Four financial experts will participate in a panel
moderated by mike roer, former executive director of the
connecticut venture group,to discuss their respective
perspectives on “the economic winds of 2015”.
The discussion will focus on projected financial
conditionswhich could have a bearing on andimplications
for independent inventors and entrerpreneurs seeking
funding for their inventions and start-ups. Each
individual brings a unique perspective to the discussion
due to backgrounds and experience within venture
capital, mergers & acquisitions, banking and
government funing positions.

Foundation and former Executive Director of the
Connecticut Venture Group, will moderate the panel.
Meet The Panelists
Douglas Campbell III, angel investor and ceo success
coach.
as a CEO Coach (www.thesuccesscoach.com), Douglas Campbell
III works with business owners to grow their businesses,
build strong management teams and advisory boards, and be
more successful. He is on the Board of the Connecticut
Chapter of the National Speakers Association and speaks
and facilitates workshops for companies, trade
associations and non profits.
Doug has started 5 businesses including the first Sylvan
Learning Center on the east coast (and helped set up
Sylvan’s national advertising), a weekly neighborhood
newspaper, and was Director of Marketing for a Fortune
100. He teaches business to MBAs and undergraduates and
speaks professionally on how to grow your business or
start a business. Doug also runs a High Talent Creative
Group that meets with CT's leading entrepreneurs and he
writes for several area newspapers.
Michael Carter is the founding principal of Carter
Morse & Mathias. He has been on the financial side
of business from many perspectives: as a business
founder, commercial lender, investment banker, board
director, and business advisor. Carter Morse &
Mathias is an investment banking firm that represents
emerging growth businesses and middle market companies
primarily focusing on Mergers & Acquisitions and
capital raises. He is on the boards of Network for
Teaching Entrepreneurship and World Business Capital.
CHRIS PENNER, Director of Investments, Connecticut
Innovations, Inc.
Chris is responsible for sourcing and evaluating
investment opportunities, structuring new investments
and advising portfolio companies. Chris has considerable
experience starting, managing, mentoring and working at
several startup companies, primarily in the information
technology (IT) sector.
Chris has held executive leadership roles at Deviant
Technologies, Barracuda Networks and REMOTV. He has led
teams and launched products in several technology
segments, including security, communication, compliance,
network management and architecture, digital media and
mobile applications.
Kevin A. Toohill, Vice President - Investments
UBS Financial Services Inc.
Kevin has been in the investment industry since 1999
where he has served as an Investment Director with
Citigroup Asset Management and as a Financial Planning
Specialist with Smith Barney. He currently is a wealth
advisor with UBS Financial Services in Westport, CT. His
strength and experience in asset management provides the
team with an in-depth perspective on professional money
management. Kevin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in
Marketing with a minor in Economics from Fairfield
University. He is active in the community through Junior
Achievement where he sits on the Bridgeport Community
Board. Kevin currently resides in Wilton with his wife
Jamie and two sons, Conor and Gavin.
